HOUSE NUMBERS REQUIRED
Village Ordinance 8-221
"If we cant find you... We cant help you"
Village ordinance 8-221 requires that ALL residential, commercial or industrial buildings in the Village of Clinton shall display property numbers assigned to such buildings.

Your house numbers shall be at least 4" in height and easily readable by color and shape.

Numbers must be numerical, script type numbers are not allowed.

Numbers shall he displayed horizontally, readable from left to right or vertically, readable from top to bottom.

House numbers shall be conspicuously placed immediately above, on or at the side of the proper door or the garage overhead door, when the garage door faces the same roadway as the proper door, of each building so that the numbers can be seen plainly from the roadway.

Businesses located with an alley to the rear shall also display their address numbers at the door facing the alley.

Whenever a building is situated more than 75 feet from the roadway (curb) line, the address number of such building shall be conspicuously displayed on a sign plate not more than three feet behind the front property line, and not less than five feet nor more than ten feet from the driveway serving the building. The number sign shall be installed not less than four feet and not more than five feet from ground level. The number sign shall be installed so that persons on the roadway shall have a clear and unobstructed view thereof.

If the owner of any building fails to attach and maintain the property address number as required by this section, the police chief, building inspector or their designees shall deliver by first class mail to the owner a notice, addressed to the proper address of the building, requiring such owner to properly number the building as required hereby. Any owner who fails to comply with the requirements of this section within 30 days after the date of the notice shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a forfeiture of not less than $20.00 nor more than $100.00 and, in addition, shall pay all costs and expenses of prosecution. Each day such violation continues shall be considered to be a separate offense.
